The Portland Lullaby Project @ Carnegie Hall – Anna Tivel, Monica Hayes, Naomi Laviolette – VIDEO

Anna Tivel: “So incredibly honored to have been part of the Lullaby Project for its flagship year in Portland. The project happens all over the country and pairs songwriters with mothers experiencing homelessness. We sat down together and put the beautiful things they wanted to tell their kids into lullaby form with help from some amazing members of the Oregon Symphony. I met the most amazingly strong and compassionate women. Here are songs from mothers all over the country being sung at Carnegie Hall this month. Huge warm thank you to Monica Hayes and Naomi Laviolette for bringing Kate’s song to New York!”

Created by Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections program, The Portland Lullaby Project is a creative experience that helps young women and their partners imagine themselves as parents, bond with their babies, and establish positive support networks. Each lullaby is professionally recorded at the end of the project and given to the mothers to play for their babies. The final songs are then presented to the public at a free Community Concert.
