Robin Trower Revisits “Little Bit of Sympathy”
Robin Trower has gone back to one of the cornerstone tracks of his career, offering a new take on “Little Bit of Sympathy” more than fifty years after it first appeared on Bridge of Sighs. It’s a chance to hear how a classic has grown and shifted with time, while still carrying the feel and emotion that made it stand out in the first place.
More than five decades after it first appeared on the classic 1974 album Bridge of Sighs, Robin Trower returns to one of his most enduring compositions, “Little Bit of Sympathy.”
Originally recorded by the legendary Robin Trower trio of Robin Trower, James Dewar and Reg Isidore, the song closed an album that became a defining moment in blues-rock history. Bridge of Sighs reached the US Top 10, achieved Gold status, and introduced a generation of guitar fans to Robin’s unmistakable Stratocaster sound, expressive phrasing and soulful songwriting. “Little Bit of Sympathy” quickly became a live favourite and has remained an essential part of Robin’s musical journey ever since.
This new recording isn’t about recreating the past; it’s about celebrating a song that has continued to evolve over decades of live performance.
