New iPhones Draw Record Crowds

Apple’s latest iPhones drew massive lines of people at stores around the world when they went on sale in China, the US and seven other countries. In fact, a line outside Apple’s flagship store in Manhattan wrapped around the store and then extended a full three city blocks. The excitement was caused by two new models of Apple’s popular iPhone, the new, top-level 5S and Apple’s first attempt at a lower-priced smartphone, the 5C. The 5S, while it doesn’t look much different than last year’s release the iPhone 5, is faster than its predecessor and includes upgrades to the camera and processor. The 5C was developed, meanwhile, because Apple is losing market share in emerging countries, where consumers opt for cheaper phones.
