Viacom Announces Major Restructuring

A major shift is going down at Viacom, according to a company-wide memo sent out by president and CEO Philippe Dauman this week. The shakeup follows the departure of Van Toffler, who ran the company’s MTV Networks Music & Logo Group for the last 28 years. The shakeup will split Viacom into two organizations, the Viacom Music and Entertainment Group, and the Viacom Kids and Family Group. The Music and Entertainment Group, Dauman said, will be run by Doug Herzog, a former president of entertainment at Fox. The Kids and Family Group will be run by Cyma Zarghami, a 30-year executive at Nickelodeon.
