Carmine Appice: Kanye West Song “Ghost Town” Sampled Vanilla Fudge

According to Carmine Appice, Kanye West’s new song, “Ghost Town,” sampled  “Take Me for a Little While” by Vanilla Fudge.  The original track can be found on the band’s 1967 self-titled debut album, featuring Carmine Appice, Tim Bogert, Vince Martell and Mark Stein.  Both songs have been embedded below.

Carmine Appice:  “It has been a long time since I was on a #1 album on billboard charts but here ya go … Kanye West Ye album with our Vanilla Fudge sample on “Ghost Town” is #1 now. Crazy !!  If you listen close you hear my drums, Tim’s bass, Mark’s organ, plus some of our arrangement sections and lead vocal.”

Carmine Appice & Dean Parrish: “I’m On My Way” Featured in UK Milk Commercial – Arla Milk “The Deal”

Legendary drummer Carmine Appice’s work can be heard in another TV ad, this time for Arla Milk.  In the commercial, the voiceover explains that Bill has made a deal with Mother Nature.  She supplies the sun and rain Bill’s cows need to grow the grass they eat and in return, he makes milk the “organic way,” using only what she gives him.  The backing music is taken from Dean Parrish and Appice’s re-recorded version of the hit single, “I’m On My Way,” featured on their EP, Northern Soul.  The commercial is currently airing in the United Kingdom.  Watch the clip below.

“I’m on My Way” was originally released by American soul singer, Dean Parrish. Written by Doug Morris and Eliot Greenberg, it was first released in the United States in 1967 without any chart success. It was released in the UK in 1975 and found chart success due to its popularity with the Northern soul scene.

About Northern Soul, Carmine said: “Some of my favorite music was the 60’s RnB and the songs on this EP with Dean singing are exactly that, 60’s RNB or today known as Northern Soul. Back in the early 1960s, before Vanilla Fudge, I played with Dean in a 7-piece RnB group. Dean was always great at singing this music and I and glad to being playing that music with Dean again. I enjoyed putting this music together with him!”

Vanilla Fudge: “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” Featured in 2018 Audi R8 Spyder Commercial

Vanilla Fudge’s version of the hit song, “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” is featured in the new 2018 Audi R8 Spyder Campaign.  Watch the commercial via the clip located immediately below.

Written and composed by Motown songwriting and production team Holland–Dozier–Holland, Vanilla Fudge covered “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” in 1967 and had a top ten hit with their version.  The band’s original lineup featured lead vocalist and organist Mark Stein, bassist Tim Bogert, lead guitarist Vince Martell, and drummer Carmine Appice.

Tichy/Sutton Productions is pleased to announce the 5th annual Bash Fest at newly renovated The Yost in Santa Ana, CA in January 2018. For three nights, some of music’s most prolific artists have been confirmed to pay tribute to their heroes for a legendary weekend of music and madness.

Producers Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton have been creating unique celebration concerts for the past several years, and have now combined them into one weekend of All-Star mayhem to coincide with NAMM, the largest music convention in the US on January 24, 25 & 26, 2018.

For the first time in Bash Fest history, Wednesday, January 24th, 2018 kicks off with All-Star jam night Soundcheck Live. Soundcheck Live is a monthly Hollywood jam series that features some of LA’s most notable touring and session players and marquee musical talent. Steve Ferlazzo of Ferlazzo Productions, creator of Soundcheck Live had this to say, “We’re super excited to kick off this year’s Bash Fest with Soundcheck Live! Big thanks to Brian Tichy and Joe Sutton for bringing the Soundcheck Live experience to The Yost on Wednesday, Jan 24th, 2018! We’re lining up some of the biggest A-list musical talent for an evening of kick-ass music!”

Soundcheck Live has revealed that their house band “The Resident Band” will be comprised of the following players:

The second night of Bash Fest features fan favorite Bonzo Bash. This is the first of these shows the Tichy / Sutton team produced, with the first one taking place September 25th, 2010, on the 30th anniversary of Bonham’s passing. This concept was created by Tichy to celebrate the drummer most consider the greatest in rock n’ roll: John Henry Bonham. They have since taken the show to not only Russia but both US coasts, with BashFest 2018 sure to be the mightiest one yet. The show highlights the industry’s top drummers playing their favorite Led Zeppelin tunes. Each drummer will be accompanied by house band The Moby Dicks.

Rounding off the weekend will be the 3rd and final show of Bash Fest taking place on Friday, January 26th, 2018 with Randy Rhoads Remembered, a celebration of the brilliant and original Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads. Tichy and Sutton created this event in 2013 after agreeing Randy Rhoads surely deserved recognition for his musical impact. They are both huge fans of Rhoads’, and Tichy himself played with Ozzy Osbourne. Randy’s brother Kelle Rhoads performs and his sister Kathy Rhoads D’Argenzio shares her stories making this a very touching and personal experience for all involved.

Carmine and Vinny Appice 2018 Tour/Europe/Dates/Germany/Austria/Italy/Poland/Spain

Brothers Carmine and Vinny Appice will embark on a European tour on January 5th in Bochnia, Poland at the Kino Regis. The 10-date trek will wrap up on January 20th in Las Palmas, Spain at the Auditorio Alfredo Krauss. A list of dates can be found below.

On JUNE 1, 2017, Carmine Appice will unveil an art collection in Chromadepth, a color-centric formula that brings his rhythmic crafted visuals into the realm of 3D. More than a year in the making, the project also marks Appice’s 50th year making records. Legendary drummer Carmine Appice (Cactus, Vanilla Fudge, Blue Murder, Rod Stewart) is in the studio recording an album with his just as legendary brother Vinny Appice (Dio, Black Sabbath). To help finance the recording, the brothers are running a PledgeMusic campaign offering a ton of great items from signed memorabilia to drum lessons and even a day in the studio.

Carmine Appice & Tony Franklin Jam Blue Murder’s ‘Valley of the Kings’

In the clip below, drummer Carmine Appice and bassist Tony Franklin jam the Blue Murder song “Valley of the Kings’. The song appears on Blue Murder’s 1989 self-titled album which featured both Appice and Franklin, alongside guitarist / vocalist John Sykes (Tygers of Pan Tang, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake). Blue Murder was founded by Sykes, after his dismissal, following the recording of Whitesnake’s self-titled 1987 release, an album that went on to sell over 10 million copies in the US alone. Personally, I would love to see a Blue Murder reunion happen, maybe just a handful of festival dates each year. Please?!
