Ratt’s debut album *Out of the Cellar* went from club‑band calling card to multimillion seller in what felt like the blink of an eye. Powered by the massive single “Round and Round” and near‑constant MTV rotation, the record shot up the charts in 1984, hitting the Billboard Top 10 and earning a platinum certification less than six months after its release before eventually going triple‑platinum in the United States alone. One minute the band was arguing over gas money to get from the South Bay to the studio; the next they were headlining big rooms, watching their songs sit alongside pop heavyweights on radio and TV. Drummer Bobby Blotzer has summed up that rocket ride perfectly: by the end of that breakout tour, the success of *Out of the Cellar* could be measured in very real, very fast rewards—“at the end of that tour, it was a Porsche.”
