Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Opening Date Announced – Disneyland & Disney World 2019 – Construction – Aerial

Disney announced dates for opening its new Star Wars theme parks. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland and in fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort.  Both versions will take up 14 acres, making it Disney’s biggest park expansion.  The theme parks will be set on Planet Batuu, a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge.  Visiting the park will be an immersive experience.  Guests will interact will residents of Batuu.

Rather than regular merchandise, guests will be able to buy specialty items at Batuu’s “markets.”  One of the land’s signature attractions will be the Millennium Falcon ship, which guests will be able to pilot.  Disney bought Lucasfilm Ltd. and the Star Wars franchise for $4.05 billion in 2012.  The studio has already made the money back through the Star Wars movies alone.
