Spotify’s Troubles Continue as Jason Aldean, Justin Moore Pull Music

It’s been rough going lately for the world’s leader in music streaming as Spotify lost a handful more artists this week from their online streaming catalog. Country/pop crossover superstar Taylor Swift was the first high-profile artist to pull her catalog from Spotify, in protest to the so-called synch fees the company pays out to artists when their music is played. Several other high-profile country artists have since followed Swift’s lead, including Jason Aldean. Relative newcomers Justin Smith and Brantley Gilbert have also decided to pull their music from the streaming service. The company is also bleeding money to the tune of a $197 million net loss last year, and the streaming landscape is getting a lot tighter with the recent relaunch of Jay-Z’s Tidal and Apple’s soon-to-be-revealed Beats streaming product.
