Harry Clay on the Mick Mars (Bob Deal) Early Years, Blackie Lawless, Whitehorse, Mick’s Band Vendetta, Sister, Circus Circus, Jimi Image, Randy Schatz & More
This is a never-before-published full in bloom interview with Mick Mars’ Ex- Bandmate Harry Clay.
YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW EXCLUSIVELY ON PATREON.
Harry Clay logged more than a thousand gigs in the 1970s alongside Mick Mars in their pre‑Mötley Crüe band Whitehorse. Long before arenas and platinum records, Harry watched Mick grind it out night after night in smoky bars and clubs. During the interview, Harry also talks about running with the Sunset Strip’s darker fringe: hanging out with Sister/Circus Circus drummer Jimi Image and crossing paths with Blackie Lawless while those bands were still more rumor than legend.
What makes the conversation special is that Harry opens a door almost nobody’s walked through before. He shares stories and details about Mick’s playing, attitude, and personal life from an era that has barely been documented, offering context you will not get from standard Crüe histories. If you have ever wondered what Mick Mars was really like before the leather, pyro, and stadium stages, or what was happening around Sister and Circus Circus before W.A.S.P. blew up, this is one of those rare interview series that will finally fill in the blanks.
