Ronnie Romero on Ritchie Blackmore’s Words of Encouragement
Rainbow and Michael Schenker Group vocalist Ronnie Romero shared a personal story about what it meant to finally have his teenage hero, Ritchie Blackmore, sign two of the albums that first shaped his love of hard rock.
Romero said, “A little trip down memory lane today that turned into a huge surprise! Back in 2017, during the rehearsals for my second tour with Rainbow, I finally dared to ask Ritchie Blackmore to sign some albums I’d been carrying in my bag since 2015.”
“These aren’t just any records—Rainbow Rising and Deep Purple’s Made in Europe were the very first albums I bought with my own savings when I was just a teenager. They are kind of the foundation of my love for this music.”
“The crazy part? I never actually read his messages until today. On the Rising cover, he wrote: ‘Great singing.’ On the Made In Europe cover: ‘Carry on singing.’ Coming from a legend like him, those words mean the world to me. If the Boss says so, then we carry on!”
