The Weepies to Launch “Acoustic & Alone” Tour Next Month, 2017 Tour Dates

Indie pop-folk duo The Weepies will begin their “Acoustic & Alone” tour in August. About the trek, vocalist/guitarist Deb Talan says: “10 days to tour, 73 songs on the rehearsal set list…dying to play an obscure Warren Zevon cover, and Steve (Tannen) does a fine, fine Sinead O’Connor “This Is to Mother You”.”

The husband and wife team released their fifth studio album, Sirens, in 2015. You can listen to the album’s first single, “No Trouble,” located above.

In May, Talan released her first solo effort in a over a decade. Titled Lucky Girl, the album was recorded in The Weepies home studio in Iowa City with Deb playing every instrument herself.

After being diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2013, Talan endured six months of chemotherapy treatments as well as a double mastectomy.  A lot of her vocals on Sirens were recorded while she underwent treatments, enhancing the vulnerability in her voice.  She is now cancer-free.
