Lady Gaga Named Billboard’s Woman of the Year

Billboard announced Tuesday that Lady Gaga will be named the 2015 Woman of the Year by the magazine, succeeding last year’s honoree, Taylor Swift. Additional honorees will be named in the coming weeks, and will be honored at the Women in Music event, scheduled to be held on Decmber 11th in New York. Billboard also announced it has signed a 3-year agreement with Lifetime, who will televise the event for the next three years. “We’re delighted to partner with Billboard on this special event, bringing it to a mass audience for the first time ever,” noted a Lifetime executive. “Lady Gaga is an extraordinary artist, emblematic of the strength, courage and fortitude that Lifetime celebrates, and we are thrilled to offer our platform to recognize her in every way she deserves.” Women in Music will be Billboard’s third branded television brand, as the Billboard Music Awards and Billboard Latin Music Awards both received their highest ratings ever this year.
