Annihilator Share Rare Early “Alice in Hell” Promo Story
Jeff Waters recently shared a rare story from the early days of Annihilator, looking back on the period surrounding the recording of their classic debut, Alice In Hell.
According to Waters, the band had already finished the album but still needed to shoot a video and assemble promo photos, even though they had not officially chosen a permanent guitar player yet.
He explained that they “guessed wrong” more than once during that process, using guitarist Casey T. (far right in the photos) for the promotional shots and then bringing in Anthony Greenham for the “Alison Hell” video shoot.
“Finished the Alice In Hell record but needed to shoot a video and promo, but we hadn’t chosen our guitar player yet,” Waters recalled. “So we guessed wrong with this guy (far right, Casey T.) on the photos and got it wrong with the ‘Alison Hell’ video (Anthony Greenham). Then we finally decided on Dave Davis, only after all this promo. We should have got him to start with, haha. Rare.”
In the end, the band settled on Dave Davis as the official guitarist, but only after the promo photos and video had already been completed, adding another quirky chapter to the Alice In Hell era.
