Alan Parsons’s ID badge from his first job at Abbey Road Studios, taken when he was just 19 years old, is a killer little artifact from the moment his career really began. Parsons came into Abbey Road at the tail end of the ’60s, right as the studio was transitioning from the Beatles era into a new decade of experimentation and bigger-sounding records. He cut his teeth as a tape operator and assistant, learning the room and the gear while watching heavyweight producers and engineers at work.
