Tom Waits Joins Mavis Staples On Stage in Petaluma
On Monday night, Tom Waits joined Mavis Staples on stage for a live rendition of “Respect Yourself” at the Lagunitas Brewery in Petaluma, CA. The collaboration marks the first time Waits has performed in over two years. Fan-filmed footage of the performance has been embedded below.
Staples will release her new album, If All I Was Was Black, on November 17, 2017 via Anti. The forthcoming effort features songs written by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy, with eleven songs being written by Tweedy and three co-written with Staples.
