The Rolling Stones are dropping a new album on July 10 called Foreign Tongues, and the record will include 14 songs. Among them will be an unexpected cover of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good.”

While guitarist Ronnie Wood was a guest this week on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, the host read from the back of a vinyl copy of the forthcoming album, delivering the news about the cover. The track originally appeared on Winehouse’s 2006 album Back to Black.

The band and the late singer worked together once before, when she appeared on stage at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2007 to perform “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” with the group. Winehouse, of course, had a blues-rock sound, so the Stones covering one of her better-known songs should be a natural fit.

Music lovers might not hear the tune until the album is released, but the band has delivered two tracks already. One, “Rough and Twisted,” was dropped under the fake band name of the Cockroaches, though the group had used that name in the past for gigs.

The second single, “In the Stars,” was delivered this week. The track features a stellar guitar sound with relatively clean vocals at the beginning. The track does improve as it merrily goes along, and Mick Jagger’s vocals sound more like him. While the tune isn’t among the band’s best, it does prove the group is in fine form.

The album was mixed and recorded in less than a month, and features Andrew Watt as producer. He also produced the Rolling Stones’ most recent record, 2023’s Hackney Diamonds, which was better than anticipated. The same will likely be true of Foreign Tongues.
