DESCRIPTION:

Set in 1814, Taboo follows James Keziah Delaney, a man who has been to the ends of the earth and comes back irrevocably changed. Believed to be long dead, he returns home to London from Africa to inherit what is left of his father’s shipping empire and rebuild a life for himself. But his father’s legacy is a poisoned chalice, and with enemies lurking in every dark corner, James must navigate increasingly complex territories to avoid his own death sentence. Encircled by conspiracy, murder and betrayal, a dark family mystery unfolds in a combustible tale of love and treachery.

Taboo is created by Steven Knight with Tom Hardy and Chips Hardy, who is also the show’s consulting producer. Executive producers are Ridley Scott and Kate Crowe for Scott Free, Tom Hardy and Dean Baker for Hardy Son & Baker, and Steven Knight, with Timothy Bricknell producing. Taboo is directed by Kristoffer Nyholm (Eps. 1-4) and Anders Engström (Eps. 5-8) and reunites Hardy and Knight for their third collaboration following Locke and Peaky Blinders.

Season 1 of Taboo made its debut on January 7, 2017. Due to several production delays, filming for season 2 is said to begin in 2023.

Randy Bachman’s Guitar Pedals – Pedalboard – Rig Rundown – Bachman Turner Overdrive – The Guess Who

Randy Bachman: Joe Webster asked about my pedals. The most important are the two blue Roland Blues, top left. I use the first for American Woman. A guy in Florida mods them for a heavier sound but they’re great as-is. The rest are boosters.

Randy Bachman Talks About Seeing Gary Moore for the Last Time

Randy Bachman (The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive) recently talked to MusicVaultz about seeing guitarist Gary Moore for the last time (transcribed by fullinbloom),

(Fred) Turner and I played Sweden Rock (Festival) maybe ten years ago and right ahead of us was Gary Moore.  So we go to talk to him and he is also out of his mind, because we knew him way back when he was in Thin Lizzy and he was like pretty straight and now he’s on some sort of psychedelic drugs and not talking to anyone and very angry.  So we said hi to him, remember this, remember that, remember Thin Lizzy, yeah.  He plays “The Messiah (Will Come Again)”, the next day he passes away.  So I now play “The Messiah” as a tribute to Roy Buchanan and him, who are guys I know who have passed away, and I carry on with that song.”

In the clip below, Bachman also talks about Britney Spears performing live, “These Eyes” finding success on Motown, and getting mistaken for The Who.

The classic rock legend is currently on tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd for the Last of the Street Survivors Farewell Tour. Tickets are on sale now at this location.

Randy Bachman, “Sad to hear about the passing of Ed King” – Lynyrd Skynyrd – BTO

Randy Bachman paid tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King who died Wednesday in Nashville.  A founding member of Bachman–Turner Overdrive and The Guess Who, Bachman described King as “such a talented guitarist.”

Randy Bachman:“Sad to hear about the passing of Ed King. He wrote the anthem of the south with Sweet Home Alabama and was such a talented guitarist. My early BTO days were often spent playing with #lynyrdskynyrd. A great band. #rip #rockandroll #sweethomealabama”

According to a statement from Scott Coopwood, King battled with cancer.  He was 68 years old.

Wikipedia:
Ed King met the members of Jacksonville, Florida-based Southern rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd when the band opened up for Strawberry Alarm Clock on a few shows in early 1968. It wasn’t until 1972 that he joined Skynyrd, replacing Leon Wilkeson on bass, who left the band briefly. Wilkeson rejoined the band, and King switched to guitar, creating the triple-guitar attack that became a signature sound for the band.

His guitar playing and songwriting skills were an essential element to the band’s first three albums: Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd, Second Helping, and Nuthin’ Fancy. King co-wrote “Sweet Home Alabama,” and his voice counted the “one, two, three”, before he launched into his famous riff to start the song. Other songs that King wrote or co-wrote the music for include “Poison Whiskey,” “Saturday Night Special,” “Mr. Banker,” “Swamp Music,” “Whiskey Rock-a-Roller,” “Railroad Song,” “I Need You” and “Workin’ For MCA”.

  • He decided to leave the band in 1975 during the ‘Torture Tour,’ and was replaced in 1976 by Steve Gaines, who was later killed in a plane crash along with his sister Cassie Gaines and lead singer Ronnie Van Zant on October 20, 1977.
  • He was one of the guitarists for the reunited Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1987, and played a major role in the reunited band. He was forced to leave the band in 1996 due to congestive heart failure.
  • The guitarist, along with all pre-crash members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Randy Bachman to Livestream Troubadour Concert on Facebook – Stream – The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive

Randy Bachman will livestream his concert from the Troubadour in Los Angeles this Saturday, July 21st at 9:00pm PT.  Bachman will perform songs of The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive & George Harrison.  Stream the concert at this location.

The legendary guitarist recently released his album, By George – By Bachman, a moving tribute to his mentor and hero, George Harrison. Bachman began work on the project in March of 2017, enlisting his band of nearly a decade: Marc LaFrance as co-producer/drummer, Mick Dalla-Vee on bass and keys, and Brent Knudsen for additional guitars. Bachman and his band developed a process for creating demos for such time-tested material, reflecting the spirit of the source within their fresh approaches. Over weeks of back-and-forth, the songs took shape and indeed some of the demo recordings made it to the finished record. “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”, the album’s lead radio single, was one of the tracks that came together very quickly. Bachman and his band took a tougher flavoured edge to the track, adding hard-driving drums, thumping bass, raging guitars, and lots of vocals, and later sent the song to well-known blues guitarist, Walter Trout, who added in some screaming guitar solos.

In May of 2017, recording began at Armoury Studios in Vancouver, where artists such as AC/DC, Nickelback, the Cranberries, INXS, Seal, Diana Krall, Drake and Bruno Mars have all recorded. As LaFrance recalls the experience:…“once we started digging into the recording of the album, it almost became somewhat of a healing and liberating experience. Music can really take you to places you can’t imagine, especially while creating it. Sitting in the control room while Randy is ripping out a guitar solo, grabbing notes out of thin air, is good for the soul.”

The band lived with those first recordings for some months before returning to the studio in September to finish the album, this time at Calgary’s Studio Bell – a facility within the National Music Centre, where Bachman’s ‘59 Les Paul guitar (on which Bachman wrote and recorded “American Woman” with the Guess Who) is on display as part of Canada’s Music Hall of Fame. The studio houses all variety of rare and vintage gear, from the Rolling Stones’ mobile recording studio to a historic Trident (Triad) A Range Console. Using these tools connected Bachman to his previous recording lives as well…as part of channeling elements of the past to weave through the present.

As the most celebrated musician in Canadian history, Bachman counts among his many accolades his membership in the Order of Canada and the Order of Manitoba, as well as being twice inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Canada’s Walk of Fame, and his inductions into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame, the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Prairie Music Hall of Fame. He is a recipient of the Manitoba Order of The Buffalo Hunt, the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, the ASCAP Global Impact Award, and holder of an honorary Doctorate in Music from Brandon University. Bachman has also earned multiple JUNO Awards as a songwriter, musician, band member and producer. In addition, Bachman can add best-selling author to his numerous list of accomplishments, having penned both Vinyl Tap Stories and Tales From Beyond The Tap.
