Megadeth: First Band Rehearsals w/ Kerry King/Photos Posted Online @ Curly Joe’s Studio, L.A. ’83-’84

Megadeth: Throwback to Megadeth’s first rehearsals at Curly Joe’s studio, in an old brewery close to downtown LA, off the 5 FWY.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lee Rausch on drums and Kerry King on guitar, and the place where Dave Mustaine became the singer for Megadeth on New Year’s Eve 83-84, after yet another lead singer flaked out and failed to show up for an audition. Dave literally taped the lyrics to the mic stand and sang!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Curly Joe’s is where we auditioned Kerry King (among others) and rehearsed for the debut shows in Feb & April 1984. It was through Curly Joe’s that we met our first manager, Jay Jones, who then introduced us to Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We used Curly Joe’s studio from late 1983 to mid 1984, and then relocated our rehearsals to Mars Studio in Hollywood by mid 1985.
