Ian Gillan Announces 2027 UK ‘Talking Gib’rish’ Spoken Word Tour
June 23, 2026 — Deep Purple frontman Ian Gillan will hit the UK in April and May 2027 for his first-ever spoken word outing, the ‘Talking Gib’rish Tour,’ offering fans a rare, up-close look at one of rock’s most distinctive voices.
Rather than a traditional concert, these shows will focus on storytelling—Gillan reflecting on everything from his early days in Hounslow to the global rise of Deep Purple. With a career stretching back to 1962, including stints with Episode Six and his breakout moment joining Deep Purple in 1969, Gillan has been at the center of some of hard rock’s most important chapters, including the era that produced Machine Head and “Smoke on the Water.”
Beyond Purple, his résumé runs deep—his role as Jesus in the original Jesus Christ Superstar recording, plus projects like Gillan, Garth Rockett and the Moonshiners, and Repo Depo. This tour leans into those decades on the road, promising candid, humorous, and unfiltered stories straight from the source.

I am quivering with anticipation at the prospect of embarking on my first ever public speaking engagements…The TALKING GIB’RISH Tour, in April/May 2027. I’ll be covering a lot of ground, from my early days in Hounslow to whatever might have happened on the latest World Tour with my beloved Deep Purple…and maybe something funky in-between. After 65 years on the road, there will be stories about some of the fascinating and sometimes magical events and people that I’ve encountered along the trail. It’s going to be a blast!
