George Lynch on His Ozzy Audition: “Warren DeMartini offered to help…” – full in bloom Interview

This is a full in bloom interview with Dokken/Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch.

YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE INTERVIEW VIA THE EMBEDDED YOUTUBE CLIP BELOW. You can also access the video directly on YouTube.

DESCRIPTION:
George talks about Ozzy Osbourne, RATT guitarist Warren DeMartini, Mark Kendall, Don Costa, & more.

INTERVIEW EXCERPT:

On losing the Ozzy gig to Jake E. Lee:

George Lynch:

They were very, very image-conscious at that time, which we all were. So, I get that. But that’s all they kept harping on, Ozzy & his wife. They were sort of perplexed, like, “Why did you cut your hair?” It was really all about that. Really, I don’t think it was the playing. I think I was ok with that.

I was having some difficulties learning all the material because I had never been in a cover band. I’m not really good at picking up other people’s stuff. So, Warren DeMartini offered to help me. He would come over to my apartment for multiple days and just sit with me and help me pick it apart. Very helpful. Got me to the point where I could play the songs pretty confidently.

full in bloom: Wow, I didn’t know that. So, you actually worked with Warren on learning the Randy Rhoads’ stuff?

George Lynch:

Yes. As a friend, he helped me out. Great to watch how he did it. Sitting there and picking it apart and figuring it out, where I couldn’t do that. “I have no idea what this guy’s doing,” and he would find out how to do it and then he would show me.

George Lynch on Electric Freedom Transitioning Back to Lynch Mob: “I’ve just got to live with the fact that it has some negative connotations” – 2022 – full in bloom INTERVIEW

This is a full in bloom interview with Dokken/Lynch Mob guitarist George Lynch.

LISTEN TO THE INTERVIEW VIA THE EMBEDDED YOUTUBE CLIP BELOW. You can access the video directly on YouTube. A small excerpt has been transcribed below.

DESCRIPTION:

George talks about an average working day and reveals the reason he’s transitioning from Electric Freedom back to Lynch Mob.

George Lynch:

Electric Freedom. We’re transitioning back to Lynch Mob.

full in bloom: What’s that about?

George Lynch:

Well, it’s just a brand that I’ve established for over three decades, obviously. Nothing is perfect. I’ve just got to live with the fact that it has some negative connotations that I probably have to continue explaining for the rest of my life, and I don’t mind doing that. But it is a brand that I built, and I’m just going to stick with it. As far as a marketing thing, a brand thing, a business thing, and a working thing, it keeps my band guys working. It keeps the fans happy. It makes sense.

I really felt when I adopted Electric Freedom, I was going against the grain more than keeping the old name. (laughs) I really felt a lot more resistance than I had ever felt having Lynch Mob, that’s the reality of it. Nobody really liked it, and then, like, living with that was just kind of uncomfortable. It’s like, “Oh, ok, we just got to put up with George’s decision here,” but nobody agrees with it. It had sort of a disingenuous ring to it, as much as my motives were pure.

dUg Pinnick of King’s X on the PANTERA REUNION: “It’s none of my f***ing business” – INTERVIEW – 2022 – Doug Pinnick

King’s X frontman dUg Pinnick talks about meeting Pantera in 1988, their friendship through the years, Dimebag Darrell, Rex Brown, Vinnie Paul, and the upcoming Pantera. You can listen to the entire interview clip via the embedded YouTube video below. An excerpt from the conversation has been transcribed.

EXCERPT:

full in bloom: Your thoughts on the Pantera reunion or celebration or whatever it’s going to be.

dUg Pinnick:

I have to say it this way, it’s none of my f***ing business. And whatever happens, I will be there, and I will support them.

full in bloom: Do you still talk to those guys?

Yeah. I have not talked to anybody since this has been announced. Even Charlie (Benante) and Zakk (Wylde), I know everybody, and I don’t want to. It’s none of my business. I really feel that. Even if I had an opinion, it doesn’t matter. It’s almost like it’s just something for everybody to gossip about. Actually, it’s great publicity, for sure. But I’m not there. I wasn’t in the room when they talked about it. I’m not around any of them in that capacity where I’m in the business side of it. So, that’s the way I look at it. I just take the Fifth.
