DESCRIPTION:
George talks about Ozzy Osbourne, RATT guitarist Warren DeMartini, Mark Kendall, Don Costa, & more.

INTERVIEW EXCERPT:

On losing the Ozzy gig to Jake E. Lee:

George Lynch:

They were very, very image-conscious at that time, which we all were. So, I get that. But that’s all they kept harping on, Ozzy & his wife. They were sort of perplexed, like, “Why did you cut your hair?” It was really all about that. Really, I don’t think it was the playing. I think I was ok with that.

I was having some difficulties learning all the material because I had never been in a cover band. I’m not really good at picking up other people’s stuff. So, Warren DeMartini offered to help me. He would come over to my apartment for multiple days and just sit with me and help me pick it apart. Very helpful. Got me to the point where I could play the songs pretty confidently.

full in bloom: Wow, I didn’t know that. So, you actually worked with Warren on learning the Randy Rhoads’ stuff?

George Lynch:

Yes. As a friend, he helped me out. Great to watch how he did it. Sitting there and picking it apart and figuring it out, where I couldn’t do that. “I have no idea what this guy’s doing,” and he would find out how to do it and then he would show me.
