Ozzy Bassist Bob Daisley on the “Holy Grail” Tapes
Ozzy Osbourne bassist Bob Daisley recently talked about what many fans consider the “Holy Grail” tapes.
In this new Patreon clip, Bob shares his side of the story and clears up some of the mystery surrounding these tapes.
Bob Daisley’s so‑called “Holy Grail” tapes are his personal rehearsal recordings from the Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman writing sessions with Ozzy Osbourne and Randy Rhoads, captured between late 1979 and early 1981. Using a portable cassette recorder, Daisley documented jams, alternate parts, and early versions of classic songs as working references so the band would not forget ideas. Among Ozzy and Randy fans, these tapes are viewed as a rare window into the creation of two landmark albums, which is why Daisley refers to them as “The Holy Grail.”
