US Mortgage Rates Little Changed

US mortgage rates were little changed this week, according to the weekly report issued by Freddie Mac on Friday, with the 30-year fixed mortgage inching up and the 15 year fixed edging down. The average rate for the week for 30 year loans crept from 4.90 percent last week to 4.91 percent, while the average for the 15 year lipped from 4.09 percent a week ago to 4.08 percent.
The average for a 5 year adjustable-rate mortgage, meanwhile, fell from 3.70 percent to 3.69, according to the report. One year ARMs, Freddie said, were unchanged at 3.26 percent. To gather data for its weekly interest rate report, Freddie Mac tracks the rates offered by lenders across the country between Monday and Wednesday. Rates can typically fluctuate drastically, even within a given day.
