The Killers’ ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ Debuts @ #1 in the USA and UK

The Killers’ new album, Wonderful Wonderful, debuted at #1 in the U.S. on the Billboard 200 albums chart, after selling 118,000 equivalent units in its first week (111,000 in traditional album sales). In the UK, the group also hit #1 after shifting 40,000 copies within three days of the album’s release, eventually selling 52,000 copies by the week’s end.  The achievement marked the first time an international act charted its first five studio albums at #1.

In 2012, The Killers’ previous effort, Battle Born, debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 with 113,000 copies sold in its first week. This was before the chart transitioned from a pure sales ranking to a consumption based chart in late 2014.  The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

The Killers released Wonderful Wonderful on September 22nd through Island Records. It was the first album released from the group in five years.
