Formed in Los Angeles in 1981 by frontman lead singer songwriter Stephen Pearcy. RATT invaded Los Angeles with the release of their (6) song EP in 1983 that sold over 100,000 albums. RATT exploded on to the national scene in 1984 with the release of their first major label debut “Out of the Cellar” on Atlantic Records featuring an undeniable hook and legendary music video, lead single “Round and Round” hit #12 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Out of the Cellar reached #7 on the Billboard Top 200 and was certified 4x platinum. Two more charting singles followed with “Back for More” and “Wanted Man.” RATT started the tour as an opening act, but by the end of the tour had climbed to arena headliners.

RATT returned in 1985 with their second full-length album, Invasion of Your Privacy. Certified triple platinum and also reaching #7 on the Billboard Top 200, Invasion of Your Privacy also featured the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40 hit “Lay It Down” and the classic “You’re in Love.” Headlining another arena tour playing over 150 shows.

“Dancing Undercover” followed in 1986 as Ratt remained a headliner act and another successful tour. Lead single “Dance” hit the Billboard Hot 100 and spawned another music video hit with “Slip of the Lip,” while “Body Talk” was featured in a key scene in the Eddie Murphy film The Golden Child. Dancing Undercover became Ratt’s third consecutive PLATINUM plus album and reached #26 on the Billboard Top 200.

1988’s “Reach for the Sky” saw Ratt return to the Top 20 of the Billboard Top 200 album charts, peaking at #17. Driven by the bluesy hit and MTV favorite “Way Cool Jr.,” Reach for the Sky was also certified PLATINUM plus and became Ratt’s fourth album in a row to move well over a million copies. “I Want a Woman” was also a successful single and the video captured the excitement and energy of Ratt live.

The original era of Ratt ended in 1990 with “Detonator”. Music was changing, but Detonator was still a success, peaking at #23 on the Billboard Top 200 and going Platinum. The first album to feature major outside songwriting contributions (Desmond Child, Diane Warren) with “Giving yourself Away” with frontman Stephen Pearcy. The lead single “Lovin’ You’s a Dirty Job” hit #18 on the Rock Charts while the power ballad “Giving Yourself Away” reached #39.

Also included in the LP set ONLY is the final RATT release of the Atlantic Era, 1991’s “Nobody Rides for Free” which was featured in the Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze hit film “Point Break”.

Stephen Pearcy Pays Tribute to Original Mickey RATT Drummer John Turner: “A true brother in life and an amazing friend, even until the end” – 2022

Stephen Pearcy:

A very rough last night, another 🐀 brother passes. I’m still processing losing a dear friend all day today. RIP brother John Turner, the original drummer in MICKEY RATT circa 1978-81. He succumbed to stomach cancer late last night around this time of posting at 59 yrs young. Brother John Turner was fighting stage 4 and fought the fight for the last couple years.

Most recently appearing in my Rockumentary “Nothin’ to Lose”. His drive, faith and commitment the moment he joined Mickey Ratt was unconditional, and he would do anything for the band to make it, and a fukn great drummer. This would include moving to L.A. (with Chris Hager) on Jan. 1, 1980, to make or break it in Hollywood. He co-wrote our first (45) single simply titled RATT 1980.

A true brother in life and an amazing friend, even until the end. John was a huge part of my career in creating Mickey Ratt and moving forward as RATT, with Chris Hager. John, we love you and you will be missed immensely. 🙌🙏🏻🙌🥁 Always a part of the RATT legacy, and forever. #livelifelove #brotherjohn #legacynight

RATT’s Stephen Pearcy on Robbin Crosby: “Without King there was mutiny” – 2022

RATT’s STEPHEN PEARCY:

The REAL RATT music 83-91. After Robbin’s exit, it was over. Without King there was mutiny, nothing to do with the musical environment. It was selfishly internally destroyed by the members, and still to this day. I move on appreciative, with the Legacy.

RATT’s STEPHEN PEARCY Circa 1974 – Firedome

Stephen Pearcy:

“Backstage Blast”, RATT’s STEPHEN PEARCY circa 1974, not yet off crutches after the wreck, showing off a new Les Paul copy. Always trading up to try and get better guitars. I started singing lead vocals for my first band not long after this time, “Firedome”. Then I decided in 1976 to create Mickey Ratt, to play guitar, and ended up singing lead also. Next! RATT’s Stephen Pearcy Reunites w/ Guitarist Jake E. Lee at 2022 Alice Cooper Show in Las Vegas: “Never Say Never” – Ozzy – Badlands

Stephen Pearcy:
RATT’s⁩ Stephen Pearcy and former RATT/OZZY guitarist Jake E. Lee reunited at the Alice Cooper concert in Las Vegas at The Dollar Loan Center Arena on Saturday, October 8, 2022. “Never say never,” Pearcy says. “I’m telling him, WTF! Let’s write, play, record. It’s been fkn years. I appreciate great players, bring it.”

From Stephen’s wife, Kristi Adair:

Alice Cooper hit the Las Vegas scene at The Dollar Loan Center Arena last night and it was EPIC!

But the best part of the evening was walking through the door into a surprise reunion between old friends & RATT bandmates, Jake E. Lee & Stephen Pearcy…..is a jam session not too far away? In true Stephen Pearcy fashion, he was quick to bring up the subject of writing and recording together, “Let’s go, brother!”

The history of Jake and Stephen runs deep…. Jake was in a band named Teaser in San Diego (late ’70s), Stephen had his band Mickey Ratt (pre-RATT), both would play at San Diego’s venue Straight Ahead Sound. Jake eventually joined Mickey Ratt in 81-82, playing the Sunset Strip scene, The Country Club, ect….Mickey Ratt turned into a 2-guitar band of which Jake decided he wanted to be in a 1 guitar player band…. soon he would audition for Ozzy….. “Bark at the Moon” would soon follow.

Little unknown piece of history is that Jake and Warren DeMartini shared an apartment for a while, and as Warren was working on “Round and Round,” Jake was working on “Bark at the Moon.” Ohhhh to be a fly on the wall of that apartment with so much talent.
