On our day off in Cleveland, we decided to visit the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. It was my first time, and I found it fascinating, engaging, and surprisingly moving. Seeing Hendrix’s handwritten lyrics left me staring at the page like it was one of the Dead Sea Scrolls of rock.

Somewhere between the scribbles and cross-outs you could almost feel the transmission coming in from another dimension.

There’s something deeply inspiring about standing inches away from artifacts that helped shape the soundtrack of our lives. Instruments, stage clothes, lyric sheets, photographs, all little portals into the creative madness that gave birth to this music we all love. It reminded me that rock and roll isn’t just entertainment, it’s a beautiful human condition.

And to top it off, we ran into the great Phil Manzanera, the illustrious producer and guitarist from Roxy Music. Any day that unexpectedly includes Phil is automatically upgraded to deluxe edition status.

If you’re a music fan and haven’t visited this phenomenon, it’s highly recommended. Just be prepared to leave with a head full of inspiration and an irrational desire to start an analog rock band immediately.

A special shout out to Andy Leach, (archivist) for the invite and special tour.
