Listen to “Grandview” by John Mellencamp Featuring Ex-Guns n’ Roses Guitarist Izzy Stradlin

Former Guns n’ Roses guitarist Izzy Stradlin’s guitar work can be heard in the above clip. The song is called “Grandview” from John Mellencamp’s new album, Sad Clowns & Hillbillies, which was released last month. The song also features country vocalist Martina McBride and Stan Lynch (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) on drums.

NPR describes as “sung from the perspective a working-class middle-aged man whose biggest dream is outfitting himself with a trailer and getting out of town.”

“Grandview” does not represent the first time that Stradlin and Mellencamp have worked together. Stradlin played on “Miss Missy” from Mellencamp’s self-titled 1998 album. That song can be streamed below.
