Jamie-Lynn Sigler Says James Gandolfini Skipped Her First Wedding With “No Warning” – NEW BOOK 2026

In her new memoir, And So It Is… A Memoir of Acceptance and Hope, Jamie-Lynn Sigler looks back on her bond with the late James Gandolfini. The two portrayed Tony and Meadow Soprano, the iconic father‑daughter pair on HBO’s The Sopranos.

Sigler, who married her then‑manager Abraxas “AJ” Discala in 2003 at age 22 while he was 32, recalls that Gandolfini was absent from the wedding. “Jim didn’t show up. No indication, no warning. I can’t say for certain why. He’s not here, so I can’t ask him,” Sigler writes of the actor, “But Jim had always shown up for me.” She explains that Gandolfini and his son, Michael, once came to see her Broadway turn as Belle in Beauty and the Beast, cheering her on from the audience. “The Jim I knew wouldn’t have just skipped my wedding without a word or an excuse. Part of me wonders if maybe he didn’t want it for me.”

When she came back to The Sopranos after the wedding for a table read, Sigler recalls that she “expected some smiles,” a little applause, or at least a few congratulations. “Instead, the room was completely silent.” Only Gandolfini cut through the tension with an audible “ooof,” breaking the awkwardness without actually addressing it.

“It was clear: none of them were happy about this for me. It would take me two long years to understand why.” Sigler and Discala separated in 2005, and she later told Us Weekly that their “relationship was really toxic and complicated.” “A marriage at 20 is still a marriage,” she added. “I needed a lot of proof to leave. When I went through his phone, I knew something shady was going on. All women feel that way. I wanted to share that not to bash him, but for other women. I felt like such a failure all the time, but I understood I was not going to survive much longer if I stayed in that marriage. I think he knew that, too.” The Sopranos actress eventually found stability with former baseball player Cutter Dykstra, whom she married in 2016; they share two sons.
