George Lynch Tiger Burst Spec Guitar by Mr Scary Guitars 2018

Guitarist George Lynch posted the picture below along with the caption, “Tiger Burst graphic, fixed neck, Mr. Scary Guitars spec guitar. Graphic extends up neck to headstock. This one will be available on MrScaryGuitars.com in a couple months.”

Lynch Mob released their eighth album , The Brotherhood, on September 8, 2017. The album reunited singer Oni Logan and Lynch, and also featured Sean McNabb (Quiet Riot, Great White) on bass and Jimmy D’Anda (Bulletboys) on drums.

About the album, Logan said, “After doing quite a few miles together with this latest line-up of Sean McNabb and Jimmy D’Anda, we consider ourselves a pack of wolves, and we came up with the name The Brotherhood. It’s got more of an adventurous sound in part and maybe a darker, colder sound to it. We are always willing to go farther. We come from the early ’90s and it’s when we released the first Lynch Mob album which set a sound and course for us. Here we are 27 years later, George and I are still able to keep on stretching. As a player, as a writer, that is very important to us. Otherwise we would be fooling ourselves and fooling you”.

Lynch added, “We wrote this album as a band and the name of the record reflects what the band is about, and what all my bands have been about since I’ve been a kid. This is my second family. These are my brothers. You go through a lot together and have a lot of experiences together. And that then becomes a part of the music.”

Billy Gibbons – Gilly Tele Stack Bridge Pickup Announced – Seymour Duncan

The Gilly Tele Stack Bridge Pickup by Seymour Duncan

Behind every good man is an even better wound pickup. Introducing the Gilly—inspired by Billy Gibbon’s tele tone and the woman that keeps him inspired, his wife Gilly.

Designed to capture the magic of Billy Gibbons’ legendary Tele tone, but with a fuller and smoother voice.

If you made a Mt. Rushmore of guitar tone, you’d have to carve into it the bearded face of Mr. Billy F. Gibbons. And if you want to grab a piece of Billy’s legendary Tele tone, you’ve got a cool new way to do it. The Gilly has everything that a great Telecaster pickup should have, with a couple of interesting twists. Thanks to its custom wind and the use of Alnico V magnets, the Gilly speaks with a rounder, smoother voice, while retaining all the snap and pop of the original. The Gilly’s stack design delivers all that tone without the hum, making it as comfortable with high-gain rock tones as it is with bluesy spank and shimmery cleans.

The Gilly pays tribute to the great women who inspire Billy. It’s named for his wife and it’s wound by the Duncan Custom Shop’s MJ—La Maestra, Maricela Juarez.

All the goodness of the classic Billy Gibbons Tele tone, with a new wind and Alnico V magnets for a fuller, smoother sound.
The stack design ensures noise-free operation, even at Texas-sized gain levels.
The Gilly is a tribute to the women who inspire Billy—named for his wife and wound by MJ.
The Gilly is made in Santa Barbara, California.

Eddie Van Halen Black & White Guitar Signature Models Announced – ’78 Eruption, Relic, SUPER ’78

Eddie Van Halen:  “Of all the guitars I’ve ever built, the white and black guitar will always be my favorite because it did all the things I needed a guitar to do, which prior to that guitar, did not exist.  So much changed because of it.  I recorded the first (Van Halen) album with it and did the first world tour with it.  The ’78 Eruption Tribute is as close to my original sound and feel as humanly possible.  I’m incredibly proud of it.”

On the cover of Van Halen’s 1978 eponymous debut album, Eddie Van Halen thrusts his black-and-white striped instrument towards the camera as if he’s showing you the future. He played this guitar on his unprecedented and mind-blowing instrumental track “Eruption,” hence its nickname, and almost immediately, this monumental instrument became a timeless icon, symbolic of a paradigm shift in guitar-driven rock and roll.

While many a fan has attempted to duplicate his guitar over the past 40 years, for the first time ever, EVH Gear has recreated Eddie Van Halen’s hand-built axe right down to every nick and scratch, as well as his period-correct case and case candy items.

Limited to only 30 guitars worldwide, the ’78 Eruption Relic model features all of the original specs including an ash Strat® body, bolt-on maple neck with oiled back finish, straight 12” radius maple fingerboard with katalox face dots, black side dots and 21 mowed-down jumbo frets, hand-cut black pickguard, EVH Frankenstein humbucking bridge pickup, vintage Fender® Stratocaster® bridge with a Kluson® brass block and Schaller® tuning keys. Its white-with-black stripes motif paint job has been reliced to match the wear and tear from the band’s first-ever world tour, and is stylishly finished off with distressed eye-screw strap hooks and a 61071 stamped neck plate.

In a true homage to this pivotal period, EVH has also recreated Eddie Van Halen’s original G&G case (with reliced handle and latches) and loaded it up with the very items used by him at the time, such as ’70s-era Fender Super Bullets strings, Van Halen ’70s tortoiseshell picks, ’78 chain strap and 3-in-One oil can. This model is also accompanied by an exclusive collector’s booklet, a backstage pass vinyl cloth sticker, 8″x10″ 1978 concert photo of Eddie Van Halen, signed certificate of authenticity and an autographed vinyl copy of Van Halen.

Steve Vai on the Soundcraft Ui24R: “Finally there’s something very convenient for tour recordings”

Steve Vai: “Sometimes I get a new piece of gear at the Harmony Hut (my studio) that is a nice surprise and delight, and recently the good folks at Harmon and Soundcraft sent over a Ui24r. It’s a multi-track digital mixer recorder that is rack mountable. I use it in the playing room to record my nightly jamming, among other things. It’s all controlled by an iPad. I think the thing I like most about it is that I was a huge fan of Studer technology and this unit has 20 Studer designed mic pre’s in it that have that Studer quality sound. Looking forward to taking this thing out on the road. Finally there’s something very convenient for tour recordings.”

The Soundcraft Ui24R is a complete, rack-mountable, digital mixing and multi-track recording system that delivers flexible I/O, pristine sound quality, intuitive wireless control, and roadworthy reliability—all in a streamlined design. The system can double as a stagebox and can be controlled by up to 10 devices via Ethernet or built-in dual-band Wi-Fi, making it possible to control mixing and multi-track recording wirelessly from anywhere in the venue. With renowned HARMAN signal processing, Studer-designed preamps and much more—from the studio to the stage, Soundcraft Ui24R is the ultimate system for artists, venues and engineers who need to save space and deliver superior sound.

Ui24R brings together industry-leading HARMAN technologies to deliver unprecedented power and mission-critical stability. Renowned Studer preamps deliver rich sound for live performance and multi-track recording, while iconic Lexicon reverbs, choruses, delays, and dbx compression offer polished results for vocals, acoustic guitar and more. dbx AFS2 automatic feedback suppression is available on all monitor outputs, providing an excellent live experience. Plus, DigiTech guitar amp modeling brings a host of effects to any performance, particularly when low stage volume is desired.

Orange Amps: Brent Hinds Terror NAMM 2018 Amplifier/AMP HEAD

Orange Amplification @ NAMM 2018 Booth #4644, Hall D

Orange Amplification presents the Brent Hinds Terror, designed in collaboration with the guitarist and vocalist of the multi-award winning band Mastodon. The latest Terror amp has its own distinctive voice and character, features styling based on the tribal imagery of Brent ’s facial tattoo and is completed by his signature.

The new Brent Hinds Terror features two channels and a new gain structure that give the latest Terror amp a completely individual nature and personality. The single-control natural channel has been redesigned to have more bottom-end yet retaining the finely balanced and highly playable character of the Terror series. The sensitivity of the new gain structure is far higher compared to previous Terrors, brightening up sound at lower levels and fattening it up the more it is dialed in.

The power switching options of the Brent Hinds Terror offers 0.5, 1, 7 or 15 Watts, making it perfect for bedroom, studio and stage. For the best possible tone and durability, the new amp uses the same beefy transformers as the rest of the Terror family to take advantage of the EL84 output. This gives players warm valve compression and saturation at neighbor friendly levels.

Check it out at the Orange Amplification booth #4644, Hall D, where all the other Orange products can also be seen.
