Joe Bonamassa: Everyone has a musical host and someone they learned from. For me it was my dad and this man. I am sad to learn of the passing of Carmen Caramanica today. A brilliant teacher, jazz musician and person. This is big loss for the Central New York music community. Rest in peace.

The receipt for Tommy Bolin’s 1960 Les Paul standard. David/Jean Brown purchased it in Denver, Colorado in 1966 for $150 dollars. It was recently found by his daughter 56 years after the sale. 😎👍

“Well here it is officially: The 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard that Tommy Bolin played in Zephyr, Deep Purple and on his solo albums and is now proudly in the collection of The Nerdville Museum of Vintage guitars and Feed and Grain Memorabilia. This quest started 7 years ago, and in the past two months—although with many moving pieces and personalities—finally came together. Operation Moab mission status: Complete!” – Joe Bonamassa

Epiphone is proud to partner with Joe Bonamassa on a very special guitar based on his 1962 Gibson ES-335 featured on his first solo album.

An Old Friend Comes Home
Some guitars are more special than others, even when that guitar is owned by a world-famous guitarist and guitar collector like Joe Bonamassa. In 1996, he purchased a red 1962 Gibson ES-335 and used it on his first solo album, A New Day Yesterday. In 2001, he regrettably sold the guitar to help fund his move from New York to LA.
As the 20th anniversary of Joe’s first record approached, a strange twist of fate and an unexpected phone call resulted in Joe being reunited with his old friend, the red ES-335 that propelled him through his first solo effort and launched him into a new life on the West Coast. Feeling fortunate to get his old guitar back, Joe promised that this important instrument would stay with him for the rest of his days.
The Epiphone Joe Bonamassa 1962 ES-335 is a tribute to a legendary guitarist and one of his cherished instruments. It features a one-piece mahogany neck with an Indian laurel fretboard and a comfortable Rounded C profile, Gibson BurstBucker™ 2 and 3 pickups wired to CTS® potentiometers and Mallory™ capacitors, a Switchcraft™ pickup selector toggle switch and output jack, and a Maestro™ Vibrola™.
A custom hardshell case with Epiphone and Joe Bonamassa graphics and a certificate of authenticity are also included.

Stevie Ray Vaughan got this guitar in 1973 from Ray Hennig’s Heart of Texas Music. It was formerly owned by the legendary Christopher Cross who traded it in for a Les Paul.

Keeping with Kevin and Joe’s audio legends week. Here we are with master mixer/producer Bob Clearmountain at his studio listening to one of my songs in ATMOS. 😎👍

full in bloom: Here’s a cool exchange that took place on Twitter between Joe Bonamassa and some of his followers.
Question
What advice would you give an amateur guitarist trying to get better tone from the fingers?
Joe Bonamassa: Back off on your attack and let the guitar bloom more. You will notice a difference right away. Play louder not harder. 😎

Question
I am a relatively new player myself and I have been told the same; to raise the volume on the amp and roll back the volume on the guitar. It lets the tone grow.
Joe Bonamassa:You can achieve more bloom with the volume knob all the way up on the guitar too. Vary your position on your picking hand aka closer to the neck/bridge until you find the place that speaks to you and achieves the sound in your head. 90 percent of your tone comes from you.

Question
Hi Joe is it true your doing truefire guitar courses that would be fantastic.?
Joe Bonamassa:True! 😎

Question
Hey man…I have to live in a house with my family…preventing me from turning a 20-watt amp to “9” to get sweet breakup. Is there an amp I should covet to get a sweet honey tone at a volume that won’t cause divorce? Is the answer pedals? An attenuator with Marshall?
Joe Bonamassa:An amp with a power attenuator is what I use at home. I rarely play loud in the house. The Ox box is a great device and is used exclusively for all Nerdville’s guitar needs.

Joe Bonamassa: All right folks it’s time for me to write a new album. I am signing off for awhile. Time to cleanse the social media soul and get back to music. 😎👍

Joe Bonamassa: Dear Delta, I would like to thank you for ripping me off by making me buy my guitar seat twice. I would like to thank your staff for being rude, condescending, and accusing me of fraud because my guitar has a name. Oh and making that old woman cry next to me over a TSA pre #. 🤷♂️
Joe Bonamassa: That’s a wrap… Thank you Abbey Road for the hospitality this past 3 weeks. We had a blast. Can’t wait for you all to hear this one. ??
