Here’s the new bass pickups! DiMarzio did a fantastic job on these—incorporating some design of mine and a lot of DiMarzio innovation and new ideas.

Rudy Sarzo: I am grateful beyond words for Spector/Korg creating my dream bass. I will be playing this one if a kind Spector Coda on tour with Quiet Riot as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the making of the Metal Health album.
Jim Dunlop: Kick off your holidays with this feature from Justin Chancellor and director Jimmy Hayward, starring the Justin Chancellor Cry Baby Wah.
The custom Cry Baby Wah combines three of Justin Chancellor’s favorite ways to explore tones and craft soundscapes—filter, wah, and fuzz.
THE LONG STORY
The Justin Chancellor Cry Baby Wah is a multi-tool of sonic craftsmanship, combining three separate effects into a single pedal: the fluid expressiveness of a custom midrange filter, the bright aggression of a custom wah circuit, and the chainsaw grind of a vintage fuzz. It’s the perfect complement to bass player Justin Chancellor’s multi-dimensional role in the band Tool. Whether opening up soundscapes with chords and harmonics or syncing up with guitarist Adam Jones to perform arresting single-note unison runs, Justin goes above and beyond the traditional boundaries of his instrument to help compose the band’s multi-layered tunes. He is, without a doubt, one of the modern pioneer users of effects on bass, and he keeps a carefully configured pedalboard at his disposal for crafting tones and exploring sounds. This custom Cry Baby Wah combines some of his favorite ways to do just that—filter, wah, and fuzz.
TWO DIFFERENT VOICES: U.K. FILTER AND CRY BABY WAH.
The Justin Chancellor Cry Baby Wah features U.K. Filter and Wah modes, two tone-warpingly distinct variations on a theme.
U.K. FILTER: THICK & THROATY.
The U.K. Filter mode uses a custom solid-state circuit designed to emulate the unique envelope-like filtering of the tone control on Justin’s own instrument—thick and throaty with very pronounced peaks. This mode absolutely nails his melodic, voice-like phrasing from the Tool track “The Patient.”
When combined with the built-in fuzz mode, the U.K. Filter generates incredibly smooth, synth-like tones.
WAH: BRILLIANT. AGGRESSIVE. LUSH.
If you prefer a more traditional wah sound, the Wah mode employs the classic red Fasel® Inductor and the circuitry of a modified Cry Baby Wah for a more aggressive sound and brilliantly lush harmonics.
Combined with the built-in fuzz circuit, the Wah mode cuts through with electric fire.
SHAPE YOUR VOICE. HOLD DOWN THE LOW END.
Customize each mode with separate Volume and Q controls, and move between the two at any time by stomping on the Wah Select footswitch. In both modes, this pedal’s custom circuitry maintains the thickness and heft of your low end by boosting your clean signal at 400Hz and blending it with the effect signal at the beginning of the rocker’s sweep.
VINTAGE FUZZ.
This pedal features Justin’s go-to fuzz, based on a ferocious device of vintage UK origin. It cuts through the mix with a tighter focus than most fuzzes of its type while retaining much of a bass signal’s thunderous heft. Think Justin’s monstrous tones on portions of the Tool track “Jambi.”
By default, you’ll only hear the fuzz when using the rocker pedal—it gives the U.K. Filter and Wah modes just the right amount of harmonic content to grab hold of for the crushing yet musical passages that Justin is known for.
Want to use the fuzz by itself? Just kick the switch on the side, and it’ll run independently
COMBINE U.K. FILTER OR WAH MODES WITH THE FUZZ, OR USE THEM SEPARATELY. THE CHOICE IS YOURS.
Justin uses the U.K. Filter mode by itself, and he likes to combine the Wah mode with the fuzz—which he can engage with a single motion thanks to the optional Dunlop Pedal Topper, which provides a larger surface area for your foot to make contact with.
Emulate Justin’s tried and true formula for killer sounds, or experiment with all the different configurations available to unlock the hard-rocking and soundscaping potential of your own rig. In all scenarios, the Justin Chancellor Cry Baby Wah is a must for the tonecrafting bass player.
Orange Amps: With more than a decade as an Orange artist, we are thrilled to be launching the ‘Glenn Hughes Signature Crush Bass 50’. In 2016, Hughes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple. Glenn is also known as the bassist and vocalist for Trapeze, Black Country Communion with Joe Bonamassa, California Breed, and more recently, The Dead Daisies. “We feel privileged to honor Glenn with this affordable limited-edition bass combo. He has played such a big part in British music history’ said Cliff Cooper, Orange Amps CEO and Founder. ‘To make a purple combo is a fitting way to pay a tribute to him.”
Glenn Hughes:
You can go in the studio, take that bass combo and make your album with something like that, it’s truly outstanding. It’s gritty, it’s punchy: sustain is so important and its certainly got all that.’ He added: ‘Orange all the way……..it’s the future, it’s the way to go, you heard it from me!”

Nikki Sixx: We were young and poor. Risson amps came to my rescue with a bunch of gear…..#ItsOnlyRocknRoll @ Mötley Crüe @ Risson Amplifiers 🤘🏽

Tony Franklin: Why a passive Fender P Bass pick up? Active pick ups boost lows, highs & mids which step on the freqs of other instruments especially the kick drum & guitar. The beauty of a Fender P Bass is it sits alone, perfectly in the mix & speaks clearly even if it sounds “flat” by itself.

Geezer Butler: I was recently asked about the bass played during Live Aid. Yes, I still have it – It’s a custom BC Rich, only ever played it at Live Aid – I whacked my thumb on that sharp edge, and could hardly play the bloody thing, it went right into my nerve and my whole hand went numb.

Flea: The most evolutionary revolutionary electric bass player of all time. He gave all us electric bass players something to aspire to. And he did back flips on stage while rocking the shit out of purple haze through an echo plex. God bless his beautiful soul. Happy birthday Jaco, you live forever.

Rudy Sarzo: A long story Short: Soon after recording Ozzy’s Speak of the Devil and officially re-joining Quiet Riot, I tracked the Cum on Feel Da Noize Bass track. I was not familiar with the song and in the previous-YouTube era I had no reference to the bass line. So I thought, “what would Tom Peterson play?” Thank you my friend ?????

The mighty Glenn Hughes demos the Terror Bass Head from Orange Amps. Watch the clip below.
The all new, re-designed Terror Bass has arrived and it sounds better than ever. With an all valve front end, the Terror Bass is a 500W hybrid bass amp with a valve preamp and solid state power amp, making it closer to the sound of our flagship AD200 than ever before.
The front panel remains the same layout to the original Terror Bass but with an added clean switch, giving more headroom and smoother, clean sounds.
From clean pop sounds through to gritty rock tones the Terror Bass can do it all. A pad switch on the front for active basses takes 6dB off the input sensitivity. The effects loop is valve on the send and solid state on the return.
The Terror bass is a Class D amp with 500 watts of power into 4 Ohms and 250 Watts into 8 Ohms, the limiter switch on the back prevents the output stage from being pushed too hard into 4 ohms. The Terror bass is perfect for any situation, whether studio, practice or live gig.”
