Cage the Elephant Announce New Album, ‘Unpeeled’, VIDEO PREMIERE

Cage the Elephant recently launched their ‘Live & Unpeeled’ tour, stopping in select cities across North America.  Live sets included stripped-down versions of their songs complete with new arrangements, a string quartet and additional percussion. Lucky for those who were unable to attend, the group recorded some of those intimate performances and will now release them as a 21-track collection. Titled Unpeeled, the album will include 18 reworked songs from the band’s catalog, plus three covers, including The Stranglers’ “Golden Brown” and Daft Punk’s “Instant Crush” and “Whole Wide World” by Wreckless Eric – that video premiered today and has been embedded above.

Vocalist Matthew Shultz talked about the inspiration behind the album: “Many times you’re adding sonic layers looking for something to hide behind, and what you don’t realize is that that vulnerability and that nakedness might be the most compelling and interesting thing about the song.”

Unpeeled will be available July 28, 2017 via RCA Records. Pre-order the limited edition vinyl or CD from the band’s Official Shop.
