Two years ago today in Studio A at Sunset Sound being interviewed for the KISS A&E documentary. Prince recorded Purple Rain here – The Doors and Van Halen did multiple albums here. The Stones finished Exile on Main Street and Led Zeppelin recorded part of their second album here.

Van Halen/Sunset Sound Studio 2 Receipt from 1977

Greg Renoff: Today, back in 1977, producer Ted Templeman & engineer Donn Landee recorded Van Halen live in Sunset Sound Studio 2. Songs from this session, everything from “Happy Trails” to “House of Pain,” would appear on the first six Van Halen albums.
