Whoa dude! TH🙏🏻NK YOU John 5 for the Ghost Bday guitar dude! Freaked out! 👻 the TeLEEcaster
John 5’s wife Rita Lowery commented:
First person to have it, pooper🚽 ❤️❤️❤️ we love you
During a conversation with Ultimate Guitar in July 2022, John 5 talked about his upcoming signature guitar, ‘The Ghost’:
INTERVIEW EXCERPT:
I heard rumblings about a possible new signature guitar. The white one, are we calling it “The Ghost” can we let the cat out of the bag on that one?
John 5:
Yeah. We’re calling it ‘The Ghost,’ and it is beautiful. It’s all white. It’s got red binding, red pickups and hardware. And it is gorgeous. It is an amazing sounding guitar and an amazing playing guitar. It’s just one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a while, and I love it. You know, it’s been in the works for a while, and everything came to a screeching halt in 2019. It is just an unbelievable guitar. And yes, it is coming to fruition very soon.
I love the painted fretboard. What inspired you to want to do that? Or what were some of the specifications that you gave the folks at Fender?
To be honest, I saw the Supreme guitar they did and that had kind of a painted neck and I give credit where credit’s due. But that guitar was in such a very, very, very, very limited production I was like well why not get this out to the population so that everybody can get this because it’s so beautiful. It’s just like when the Les Paul came out. They only made like 100 of them [in the original run], so nobody would get to enjoy that beautiful guitar. I’m not comparing The Ghost to the Les Paul. I’m just giving an example of something that, if it’s such a limited run, just imagine how terrible that would be. Like if they stopped at 100 and there were only 100 Les Pauls ever made. So I was like, let’s make this something that we can get out to the public so everybody can enjoy it.
Check out the new Fender Joe Strummer Signature Telecaster, which pays homage to Joe’s legendary instrument. Feat. Road Worn lacquer-finished Alder body, a mid-60s “C”-shape maple neck & a set of custom-voiced Strummer Tele pickups.
As front man and main songwriter of legendary punk band, The Clash, Joe Strummer created a fiery, passion-filled brand of up-tempo punk-rock that catapulted the band into rock and roll history. Strummer’s rebellious musical sensibilities injected the band’s songs with the lightning-in-a-bottle political urgency of the era.
To capture the vibe of Joe’s well-worn ’66 model, the Joe Strummer Telecaster® features a Road Worn® lacquer-finished Alder body, a mid-‘60s “C”-shape maple neck with 7.25” radius Rosewood fingerboard and a set of custom-voiced Joe Strummer Telecaster® pickups. Other features include a vintage-style 6-saddle Telecaster® bridge, era-correct 3-ply parchment pickguard, vintage-style tuning machines and a custom neck plate, all featuring Fender’s Road Worn® finish to complete the look.
FEATURES
Alder body with Road Worn® Lacquer finish
Maple neck with 7.25” radius rosewood fingerboard
Custom Neckplate
Vintage-style 6-Saddle Tele Bridge
Custom Joe Strummer ‘60s Single-Coil Tele® Pickups
Road Worn® Vintage-Style Hardware
Joe Strummer’s legendary ‘66 Tele is more than a guitar, it’s the sound of a movement – played throughout Strummer’s career in the 101ers to The Clash, to the Mescaleros and beyond.
Built to withstand heavy destruction, this guitar had battle scars to prove it, made real by Strummer’s dedication to using it every time he played, without fail.
As the story goes, Strummer’s Tele was bought out of an act of goodwill. A friend from South Africa was looking to obtain British citizenship, so he agreed to a marriage at the price of £100. It just so happened that a used Telecaster was available at a local shop for £120.
THE MAKEOVER
This guitar initially started out with a 3-Color Sunburst finish, but as Strummer, Paul Simonen and Mick Jones came together to form The Clash, the aesthetics of the group changed, which brought an all-black paint job to the instrument, in addition to stencil work and several decals.
As The Clash gained more of a worldwide audience on the heels of early albums like Give ’Em Enough Rope and London Calling, the Black began to give way to the Sunburst. Plus, the original three-saddle ashtray bridge was switched out for a six-saddle version and a second string tree was added.
To celebrate Strummer’s legendary contributions to not only the music of the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s, but also the punk and hardcore we hear today, Fender is releasing the Joe Strummer Signature Telecaster, a faithfully recreated model that captures his rebellious musical sensibilities and injected The Clash’s songs into the political urgency of the era.

Charvel Guitars: Ultimate Attitude. Charvel is excited to present the all-new Jake E Lee Signature Pro-Mod So-Cal.
“When I was coming up in the ‘80s, Charvel was THE cool guitar to have,” says Lee. “40 years later, it still is.”
Guitar virtuoso Jake E Lee blazed trails in the 1980s with Ratt and Rough Cutt before landing his legendary gig as Ozzy Osbourne’s lead guitarist. His acclaimed career continued with Badlands and now Red Dragon Cartel, and Charvel has been there every step of the way. The iconic models that have always accompanied Lee in the studio and on the stage are among the most requested in the Charvel collection.
JAKE E LEE SIGNATURE PRO-MOD SO-CAL STYLE 1 HSS HT RW
For the first time, Charvel now offers a more affordable version of Jake’s hallowed So-Cal guitar, with the 2022 spring release of his signature Pro-Mod So-Cal. Like his USA So-Cal, this instrument is based on the distinctive white “Charvel-ized” instrument the great guitarist acquired in 1975 by working at a music store to earn trade credit.
Although originally a Sunburst Fender Strat, Lee’s roommate back in the day worked at Charvel and offered to paint the guitar as a birthday present. While he was at it, he also cut down the headstock and added a Charvel logo to it. Other mods soon followed to the iridescent Pearl White guitar, including a new black pickguard and reverse slanting of the single-coil middle and neck pickups — an idea inspired by hearing the tones Jimi Hendrix was getting from playing his Strat upside down.
Made famous during his Ozzy-era, the Pearl White So-Cal remains a fan favorite that Charvel is thrilled to bring to Lee’s legions of fans in a more affordable Pro-Mod form.
Jake E Lee’s USA Signature Pearl White with Lavender Hue is based on the distinctive white “Charvel-ized” instrument the great guitarist has played ever since he bought it new back in 1975.
Jake E Lee’s USA Signature in a gorgeous Pearl White with Lavender Hue finish pays tribute to his first-ever guitar. Modified and notorious from his early days with Ozzy Osbourne, this USA So-Cal replica features an ash body, bolt-on quartersawn maple neck, 12″ – 16″ compound radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and white dot inlays, Seymour Duncan® JB humbucking bridge pickup, single-coil DiMarzio® SDS-1 middle and neck pickups, five-way blade switching, single volume control knob, hardtail bridge and Gotoh® tuning machines.
Guitar World: Steve Vai on how Frank Zappa inspired him to design the Ibanez JEM – and why the Japanese guitar builder succeeded where others failed. -READ MORE
The JEM has been around for 35 years. At the beginning, why did you feel the need to develop that guitar?
I was fortunate working for Frank Zappa because one of the things I learned from him is if you want something, just do it. So Frank was molesting his guitars with electronics and putting things in them, like frequency modulators and parametric EQs, and I’m changing the necks, changing the pickups.
“I thought, ‘Well, that’s what you do. You find what you want.’ I loved Strats because they had a whammy bar, but I didn’t like the way they sounded. They weren’t rock ’n’ roll enough to me. I loved Les Pauls because Jimmy Page played a Les Paul and they had a better sound for me, but they weren’t sexy to me. They felt awkward and none of them you could really comfortably play in the high register. I don’t know why they give you the frets when they don’t give you the access to them.
“I knew that I wanted to have something that was not necessarily one of those. Edward [Van Halen] came out with a humbucker on a Strat-style guitar, that was perhaps the first SuperStrat. That was fantastic because now we can get a really good, big fat sound with a whammy bar. But there were things about that guitar that were very limiting to me. So very innocently I decided, ‘What do I want? I could have anything made.’” -READ MORE
