Yesterday afternoon’s episode of Johnnie Walker’s Sounds of the 70s, on the UK’s BBC Radio 2, included a half-hour interview with Nick Mason. He talks about the earlier days of Pink Floyd, particularly on the road, comparing things to how they will be for the upcoming Saucerful Of Secrets European tour.

You can listen on demand in most countries at this location. (Nick’s interview begins around 1 hour, 13 minutes into the show) or tune in to Radio 2 tomorrow (Tuesday/Aug 21) at 3am when the show is repeated.

Pink Floyd: Nick Mason on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show BBC Radio 2 – Listen

Next Friday (22nd June), The Chris Evans Breakfast Show on the U.K.’s BBC Radio 2 includes Nick Mason discussing his newly announced box set, Unattended Luggage, featuring reissues of the Pink Floyd drummer’s three solo albums. Listen at this location.

The show, which starts at 6:30am UK time (1:30 AM ET), will also include actor Rupert Everett, and the Manic Street Preachers will perform live in the studio.

Scheduled for release on August 31, 2018, Unattended Luggage features a three album CD or vinyl boxset of Nick Mason’s Fictitious Sports, Profiles and White of the Eye.

PRE-ORDER

Profiles and White of the Eye were an extension of working with Rick Fenn on some advertising and short documentary film soundtracks, which then developed into something more.

About the boxset, Mason said:
“Listening back after 30 odd years, I’m delighted they are getting the reissue treatment. I’m rather hoping that sales will be sufficient to damage the market in the original rare vinyl versions!”

The three individual albums will also be available as a download and through streaming platforms.

Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets Debuts in London 2018 Video – Setlist

Nick Mason’s Saucerful Of Secrets take a well-deserved bow at the end of their debut, last night (5/20), at Dingwalls in Camden, London.  The diverse setlist thrilled the crowd of 500; tonight sees the band hit the stage at the Half Moon in Putney for the first of three shows there.   A couple of fan-filmed clips from the show can be viewed below.

Charity Auction: Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Foo Fighters Drum Items

CharityStars.com are currently running a set of auctions under the festive title of “12 Drummers Drumming.”  The auctions raise much needed funds for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity, offering drums, drumheads and sticks from a range of artists, including Nick Mason, Chad Smith, Dave Grohl & Taylor Hawkins, and Nicko McBrain.

Nick Mason’s offering is a framed drumhead with the classic Pink Floyd “bubble” writing included in Nick’s dedication. The auction for this ends on Wednesday (December 13th), at 4:00PM GMT.
