Orange Amplification’s Artist Relations Manager Alex Auxier met Mastodon’s Brent Hinds recently to talk about the new Orange Brent Hinds Terror Amp.
The new Brent Hinds Terror features two channels and a new gain structure that give the latest Terror amp a completely individual nature and personality. The single-control natural channel has been redesigned to have more bottom-end yet retaining the finely balanced and highly playable character of the Terror series. The sensitivity of the new gain structure is far higher compared to previous Terrors, brightening up sound at lower levels and fattening it up the more it is dialed in.
Orange Amplification has been a pioneering force in guitar and bass amplification since 1968. They have built a reputation of delivering innovative technology, always built with uncompromising attention to detail and quality. Known as the best British guitar amplifier manufacturer for both design and build, they dominate the world’s stages and studios. Orange are rightfully proud of their heritage, a story that began in the late 1960’s. The world’s greatest rock icons, including Jimmy Page, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Fleetwood Mac, Oasis, Madonna, Jim Root and Geddy Lee are proud to stand in front of the unmistakable iconic brand and rely upon its unique tone.

Primus and Mastodon will embark on a North American Tour set to kick off on May 6th in Morrison, CO at Red Rocks. The 43-date summer trek will wrap up in Phoenix, AZ on July 7th. A list of dates can be found below.

Orange Amplification @ NAMM 2018 Booth #4644, Hall D
Orange Amplification presents the Brent Hinds Terror, designed in collaboration with the guitarist and vocalist of the multi-award winning band Mastodon. The latest Terror amp has its own distinctive voice and character, features styling based on the tribal imagery of Brent ’s facial tattoo and is completed by his signature.

The power switching options of the Brent Hinds Terror offers 0.5, 1, 7 or 15 Watts, making it perfect for bedroom, studio and stage. For the best possible tone and durability, the new amp uses the same beefy transformers as the rest of the Terror family to take advantage of the EL84 output. This gives players warm valve compression and saturation at neighbor friendly levels.
Check it out at the Orange Amplification booth #4644, Hall D, where all the other Orange products can also be seen.

Mastodon posted their new video for “Show Yourself”. The song will appear on the band’s forthcoming album, Emperor of Sand, available March 31, 2017 via Reprise Records.
Emperor of Sand is the seventh studio album from Mastodon. The album was recorded at the Quarry in Kennesaw, Georgia and mixed at Henson Recording Studios in Los Angeles. It was produced by Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots), who previously worked with the band on their 2009 effort Crack the Skye. In an interview with Rolling Stone, drummer Brann Dailor talked about the concept behind Emperor of Sand, “It’s about going through cancer, going through chemotherapy and all the things associated with that. I didn’t want to be literal about it. But it’s all in there. You can read between the lines.”

Drummer, Brann Dailor, posted a video update on how the recording studio sessions for the new Mastodon album are coming along. Dailor commented, “I’m done with my drum tracks”. Mastodon’s new album is rumored to be released sometime in the spring. It has already been confirmed that production duties are being handled by Brendan O’Brien (Soundgarden, Korn, Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots).
In January, the band released a couple of hilarious video trailer teasers for the album. You can view those below.
