The most fantastic photo of Billy Idol.
Our caller Richard ran into him in the Sistine Chapel in 1991, texted the show as one of our subjects was “seeing music legends in the flesh.”
Well, this may have won tonight’s best text! (there is no prize 😂).
BBC Radio 5 Live

This pic deserves its own post as it’s so cool, random & unexpected: pretty crazy to be in the artist pit at Rock in Rio watching Iron Maiden and looking over my shoulder to see Post Malone rocking out next to me! I always figured he was a cool dude when I saw his knuckle tats. 🤘

Epic Epic Epic! Just ran into Alex Van Halen (my first drum hero) at LAX and talked for 30 mins. Haven’t seen him in years. It was so great to reconnect. Crazy, I was with Wolf Van Halen yesterday and was asking him how his uncle’s been doing. Bizarre! Not pictured is Mark Guiliana who I ran into 5 mins later. Drummer craziness at LAX this afternoon.

“Faculty and Staff Summer Spotlight”: We are calling this one, “Too Cool for School”! Our PreK aide, Mrs. Jaenine Lostumbo, and her family, ran into Tommy Lee, from Mötley Crüe. They had just attended the “Stadium Tour” at Fenway Park in Boston, so had lots to chat about.

Random supermarket encounter with Jon Bon Jovi.
He saw my Southside Johnny shirt. I told him he was the 3rd best thing to come out of NJ (Bruce and Southside) he laughed said 4th that I forgot Sinatra. We talked music and shared some wine his son was in town selling. Never meet celebrities, not star struck but got to say, very cool encounter with a very down to earth guy.

I don’t mean to sound like a grumpy old bastard, but England’s gotten so expensive, you used to be able to go out with 10 quid and get a little meal – there’s no England now certainly ain’t now – 10 quid will get you two sandwiches at Sainsburys if you’re lucky, I feel for people.
Well, I AM a grumpy old bastard. I love England but had to leave because of taxes in ’75. 82% taxes at the time. I also feel for the people living in England, how much they have to pay for everything. But Death of a Clown is still a brilliant song.

So it all started out as a joke…..
When I first moved to Juneau (1996) some friends took me out crabbing for the first time. I was hooked! I loved it! I found crab fascinating, the pulling of the pots, the cleaning of the crab, cooking, the scenery, the company and of course the taste of the crab was awesome!
Pretty soon, whenever friends came to visit, I would take them out on the boat. I often heard it was the highlight of their trip.
One day on a particularly rough day on the water, I said jokingly, “I’m just going to buy a hotdog cart and start selling you guys’ legs “One Leg at a Time”. We all had a good laugh about that, but the idea always stayed with me. I would always talk about what it would look like, how it would “feel”. I’m sure my friends were sick of hearing it.
Finally in 2006, the company I was working for went bankrupt. I decided then and there to take matters into my own hands and take a stab at my dream. Things started falling into place.
Almost 15 years since the “idea”, here I am. The crab shack is going into its 14th year now (and 3rd move). I feel very fortunate to have made it this long in a tumultuous crab market. There have been a lot of learning curves and 16-hour days. I have great support from friends, family and some key industry people who have helped me get to this point. However, I could not have done it without all of the great customers I have had along the way. You have told friends, who told friends, etc. Your email’s, photos, and stories kept me going in the rough and quiet times. For that I THANK YOU!
I hope you enjoy your experience at the Crab Shack. I appreciate you stopping by!

My sister & niece meeting Jon Bon Jovi at the Elvis movie, small world.

ELVIS is an epic, big-screen spectacle from Warner Bros. Pictures and visionary, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley, starring Austin Butler and Oscar winner Tom Hanks.
A thoroughly cinematic drama, Elvis’s (Butler) story is seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Hanks). As told by Parker, the film delves into the complex dynamic between the two spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).
Starring alongside Butler and Hanks, award-winning theatre actress Helen Thomson (“Top of the Lake: China Girl,” “Rake”) plays Elvis’s mother, Gladys, Richard Roxburgh (“Moulin Rouge!” “Breath,” “Hacksaw Ridge”) portrays Elvis’s father, Vernon, and DeJonge (“The Visit,” “Stray Dolls”) plays Priscilla. Luke Bracey (“Hacksaw Ridge,” “Point Break”) plays Jerry Schilling, Natasha Bassett (“Hail, Caesar!”) plays Dixie Locke, David Wenham (“The Lord of the Rings” Trilogy, “Lion,” “300”) plays Hank Snow, Kelvin Harrison Jr. (“The Trial of the Chicago 7,” “The High Note”) plays B.B. King, Xavier Samuel (“Adore,” “Love & Friendship,” “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse”) plays Scotty Moore, and Kodi Smit-McPhee (“The Power of the Dog”) plays Jimmie Rodgers Snow.
