Neil Young Drops Video Slamming Starbucks, Monsanto

Iconic rocker Neil Young unveiled a new video this week for “Rock Starbucks,” a song from the upcoming album The Monsanto Years from Young and Promise of the Real, a band that features Willie Nelson’s sons Micah and Lukas. Check out the video below. Both the song and the album are being launched as a protest of Starbucks, who recently aligned themselves with agriculture conglomerate Monsanto in a lawsuit against Vermont. Starbucks has denied being involved with Monsanto, though a spokesman declined to answer whether Starbucks’ products contain GMOs. Young and Promise of the Real debuted “Rock Starbucks,” plus ten other songs expected to be on the album, at a secret show in San Luis Obispo in April. The group will embark on a summer tour this year, including Young’s first-ever appearance in Vermont, likely a reward for Vermont standing up to Monsanto by enacting laws demanding accurate and complete nutrition and ingredient labeling. The Monsanto Years hits stores on June 16th.
